The goal
A couple in their early retirement years want to move to Cambridge from Whangarei to be closer to their grandchildren.
Looking for a modern, warm, comfortable home that doesn’t require a lot of maintenance, at first they wanted to buy a newly completed home built by ZB Homes. However, this has just been sold to another buyer.
ZB Homes presented the couple with the option of building a new home, which came with the opportunity to customise it to suit them.
Seeing as they knew exactly what look they wanted for their home, they appreciated the ability to make their own choices. They chose to build a 185m2 house on a 662m2 site at Haultain Estate in Kihikihi.
The process
Knowing exactly what look they were going for, the design process was swift and easy. All the couple had to do was select their exterior and interior options, and leave the rest up to the team at ZB Homes.
This was their first new build, so the couple appreciated being guided through the process by our team, helping them make their selections.
While they wait for completion, the couple are delighted to have access to BuilderTrend, which is an app that allows them to see live updates of their build and follow the progress.
Seeing what’s being completed in real-time helps them feel involved in the process and confident that it’s moving along.
Outcome
The build is still in progress but is moving ahead very well, with the couple hoping to move into their new home by Christmas.
The total build time is likely to be less than six months. In the meantime, they are staying in temporary accommodation.
Having peace of mind about the completion date is important when building. It’s especially important if you’re renting while your new home is being built.
